"Seexeng has a good sense of humor and is a joyful, thoughtful person who takes responsibilities seriously and involves all students in being successful in their educational pursuits. I have also observed him in collegial conversations with persons from many different countries. He is at ease in presenting himself in a non-threatening and caring manner. He is a strong team member who builds sound working relationships and does all parts of projects from inception to completion, no matter how involved or tedious."

How Do I Begin?

How Do I Begin?

Hmong history and culture can be found in the form of oral stories, oral poetry, textile art, and music but there is no written account of Hmong life, by a Hmong hand, passed down through the centuries. As an undergraduate, Burlee Vang experienced this void when he received valuable advice from his English professor: "Write about your people. That story has not been told. If you don't, who will?" FRESNO, CALIF. - In many ways, the preoccupations of the young writers who gather here every week over supermarket cheese and crackers are those of young people everywhere. 2011: A Year in Review

2011: A Year in Review

2011 has been a banner year for Hmong in the arts. But no year in review would be complete without talking about the passing of General Vang Pao. At the time of this publication it will have been almost exactly one year since the General left us and lost his last battle with pneumonia. ??His passing sparked a beautiful new project, a large full color biography of his life and times. His journey reads like the journey of a people and is a tribute to a culture. Look for it on bookstore shelves soon. [read more]
